Overview

Be part of someone's story as an Adult & Children's Mental Health Practitioner! Mental Health Practitioners provide skills training for adults, children, & adolescents whose health, functioning & independence have been impacted by mental health symptoms.

 

Hour requirements are flexible but should accommodate client scheduling needs. With children and adolescents, this may require some after school and weekend hours.

Pay $18-$22.25 per hour

  • Manage a caseload of adult, child, and adolescent clients, conducting monthly performance reviews, assessments and CTSS treatment plan updates.
  • Provide rehabilitative and skills-focused services to encourage children/adolescents in social and basic living skills, and community intervention in their home, at Accend Services, or in other community settings.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with assigned clients and meet with each client as needed according to the provided individual treatment plan.
  • Document all client contacts, contact efforts, and service coordination activities.
  • Complete monthly treatment progress reviews with clients.
  • Monitor engagement, progress and quality of services, and make recommendations as needed for changes in treatment.
  • Coordinate ARMHS/CTSS services with other internal and external services as needed.
  • Assure that necessary ROI and other documents are kept up-to-date in each client's file.
  • Meet with team members and clinical supervisors at regular intervals to review client progress.
  • Identify and problem solves barriers to treatment, client disengagement and lack of treatment progress.
  • Report problems, concerns, client grievances to a direct supervisor.

Qualifications

Adult and Children's Mental Health Practitioners must meet one of the following qualifications. If your qualification is based all or in part on work experience, include the employer, total work hours (estimated), and type of clients served on your application or resume. Proof of experience is required during the screening process.

  • Master’s Degree or enrolled as a graduate student in one of the behavioral arts and sciences; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree and experience: A Bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral arts and sciences and one year of full-time (2000 hours) of clinically supervised delivery mental health services to children/adolescents; or
  • GED + three years of full-time (6000 hours) clinically supervised delivery mental health services to children/adolescents.

For practitioners working with a majority of clients from non-english-speaking or immigrant populations:

  • Is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong;
  • Completes 40 hours of training (provided by Accend or by a previous employer) in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness; and
  • Receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met.

*For mental health services, behavioral arts and sciences includes social work and psychology. Related fields include nursing, occupational therapy, rehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation. Other acceptable related fields must include 30 semester college credits in the following core class areas: human services, psychology, social work and rehabilitation. A valid transcript is required to demonstrate the practitioner has the required qualifications.
